Joseph MacNichol

I graduated from the College of Charleston in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in biology and chemistry. After working for a brief time in the scientific industry, I decided to pivot to a career in education and went back to get my Master of Education (M.Ed.) with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics from Arcadia University and graduated in 2011. Since graduating with my masters, I have been teaching Biology and Chemistry at Harriton High School in the Lower Merion School District. In addition to my role as a teacher, I have served in many extracurricular roles as both a coach and a club sponsor. I am currently a coach for Harriton’s perennial state champion Science Olympiad team, and the sponsor of Harriton’s Science Club, while previously I have coached both football and squash.

This is my first summer working at Arrowhead as a counselor where previously I have spent my summers working the various summer enrichment programs offered by Lower Merion School District. The reason for the change is that my two daughters, Zoe and Edith, are now old enough to be campers and there is nowhere I would rather have them spend their summer than right here at Arrowhead!
